While floating the 36 miles of the Enoree River, known also as “River of Muscadines,” visitors will see steep hardwood bluffs, bottomland forests and small marshy areas. The river ranges from two to six feet deep and 40 to 70 feet wide. Paddlers may encounter a variety of water levels so experiences depend on the time of year and the amount of rainfall. Early spring brings heavy rains that cause the river to swell, making it unsafe to paddle. In late spring, river conditions provide fastmoving flatwater for experienced paddlers to enjoy. The summer months, coupled with a lack of rain, turn the river into a small creek that makes boating impossible. In the fall, the rains start again, and river conditions provide fast-moving, flat water. The Brazzelmans Bridge Boat Ramp is one of six boat ramps in the Enoree Ranger District management area along the Enoree River Canoe Trail. Canoes and flat-bottom boats less than 14 feet long are recommended.
