Foothills Digest is a family business dedicated to telling the story of western North Carolina.
Foothills Digest is the creation of Carmen and Jon Eckard. Their passion lies in telling stories in a beautiful and comprehensive way, so when they noticed the lack of quality regional magazines, they set out to make their own.
Each of the quarterly issues is themed, which allows both the creators and the readers to take a very deep dive into different parts of North Carolina's culture. Recent themes have included food, Strong Appalachian Women, Spooky Stories and Pottery. You can read entire back issues using the "Read" tab in the menu.
We focus on the Foothills and High Country of North Carolina, telling stories that aren't told in many other places.
We are sold in grocery chains across western NC, and in most Publix across the state. You'll also find Foothills Digest in select locally owned stores across the region, and you can always purchase a subscription using the "Subscribe" tab in the menu.
