Its a top ten food in most southern homes. To any of these recipes you can add diced jalepenos to spice it up. Pimento cheese is served best on freshly baked white bread, but there are lots of other things you can do with it as well!
Classic Style
• 2 cups extra sharp cheddar
• 1 cup of mayonnaise
• 1 jar of diced pimentos
• Garlic salt
Grate the cheese and stir in the mayo, pimento and garlic salt. For best results, let it get to room temperature when you are combining.
Variation #1
• 2 cups extra sharp cheddar
• 1 cup of cream cheese
• 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
• 1 jar diced pimentos
• Cayenne pepper to taste
Grate the cheeses together and add the mayo and pimentos. Add your pepper and other spices to taste.
Variation #2
• 2 cups extra sharp cheddar
• 1/2 cup cream cheese
• 1/2 cup greek yogurt
• 1 jar diced pimentos
• Spices to taste
Grate the cheese together and stir in the yogurt and pimentos. Add spices to taste.
Variation #3
- 2 cups extra sharp cheddar
- 1 cup American cheese
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 jar diced pimentos
- Spices to taste
Grate your cheeses and mix in your mayo, pimentos and spices to taste.
Here are some additional suggestions:
- Add a scoop of pimento cheese to your scrambled eggs.
- On crackers or as part of a charcuterie tray, it can’t be beat.
- As a burger topper, melted, or even better, stuffed inside of your patty before you cook the burger. The result is melted, bubbly, and delicious.
- Fold pimento cheese into your grits.
- Melt on top of french fries.
- Stuff chicken breasts with pimento cheese then fry them.
- Make pimento cheese cookies using a cheese straw recipe modified with pimento cheese.
- Add pimento cheese to your devilled egg mix!
